About the Palm Jumeirah Monorail

The Palm Jumeirah Monorail is a transportation system on the Palm that opened in 2009. This monorail connects the mainland with the Palm and stops at the main attractions and hotels.

This monorail was initially built to connect the mainland with the well-known Atlantis Hotel on the Palm Jumeirah and runs from the base of the Palm at Dubai Marina all the way to the Atlantis Hotel.

What is the Palm Monorail

The Palm Monorail is a kind of tram or train that runs above ground on 1 rail – a bit similar to the DLR in London or the monorail in Kuala Lumpur.

Just like the Dubai Metro, the Palm Monorail has no driver. This ensures that you can sit at the very front of the monorail to have a beautiful view of the skyline.

Where’s the Palm Monorail

The Palm Monorail can be found on the Palm Jumeirah. The Monorail runs from Dubai Marina at the base of the Palm and travels across the middle lane of the Palm to the famous Atlantis The Palm hotel.

Why use the Palm Monorail?

If you want to visit the Palm Jumeirah, it is highly recommended to use the Palm Monorail. Not only is it nice and exciting to sit in a monorail, you also have a better view of the Palm.

For example, if you choose to take a taxi to The Palm, you will have to drive through a tunnel to Atlantis. Of course, this is not as spectacular as riding a monorail above the ground.

In addition, as we mentioned earlier, the Palm Monorail has no driver. So you can sit in the front to admire the Skyline of Dubai Marina.

Stops of the Palm Monorail

Of course it is also useful to know where the Palm Monorail stops. That way you can easily plan a nice trip to the Palm Jumeirah without having to constantly flag a taxi.

How many stations are there

Currently, the Palm Monorail network has 4 stations.

  • The Palm Gateway Station

  • Al Ittihad Park Station

  • Nakheel Mall Station

  • Atlantis Aquaventure Station

  • The Pointe station will also open soon. (early 2021)

Prices and tickets for the Palm Monorail

The Palm Island monorail is not part of the Dubai public transport system or the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), but is operated by a private company that has its own ticketing system and pricing.

Nol Cards are therefore not valid on The Palm Island Monorail.

Where to buy tickets for the Palm Monorail

You can buy tickets for the Palm Monorail at any Palm Monorail station.

How much does a ticket for the Palm Monorail cost

The prices of a Monorail ticket depend on where you are going. From Palm Gateway Station to Atlantis Aquaventure (and vice versa) a one-way ticket costs AED 20 and a return ticket AED 30. It is also possible to buy a one-way or return ticket for one of the intermediate stations. Most tourists take a return ticket from Palm Gateway to Atlantis Aquaventure for 30 AED.
